And you’re highlighting…badminton. Don’t get me wrong, badminton is fun little game to play in the backyard or in gym class, but does it really deserve a Olympic broadcast analyst and color commentator?
Yet here I am, watching the emotionless Chinese women play badminton for the gold medal. It’s either that or women’s field hockey.
Also, to anyone at NBC Universal…why is your Universal HD only showing boxing in primetime? The “sweet science” it may be, but there’s plenty of other fine sports to showcase on glorious Hi-Def during the evening. Then again, I may be missing the time when you’re showing other sports on there. Nothing like being 12 hours behind a sporting event.
The biggest stuck-in-craw thing with these Beijing games is just how manipulative things are coming from China. The opening ceremony is grand, but every one of them is like that. Are we supposed to just drop our jaws and all collectively go “Oh yeah, China is good now.” And the Brits are suddenly supposed to keep up with the Joneses…or Tso’s…or the Zedongs…
As host nation for the 2012 Olympics in London, Britain could only look on in awe at the $100 million spent on the Beijing extravaganza, considerably more than the British authorities have committed to London’s opening fest.
Well there you go, just throw some more money at it. Works like a charm all the time…
