I’ve noticed a change in me over the past few months. Lately, whenever I’m wanting to watch some television, I’ve changed my viewing habits on the ol’ cable box.
I’m just watching channels that come in Hi-Def. I’ve become an HD Snob.
Sure, I’m paying for 100’s of others, but this truly is something just as advertised. The picture is clearer, the sound better and the definition is crystal clear compared to standard definition. Read the rest of this entry »

Via Dirty Harry, my own preferences for movies everyone else likes, but make my skin crawl or blood boil.
- American Beauty. First off, Mena Suvari. Alien-like face and not that attractive. Second, any man who “digs” Lester Burnham is a fool. Third, this movie shows just how out of touch Hollywood really is with reality. A shallow movie made by a bunch of pretenteous elitist snobs who look down upon everyone from their protected perch and sneer at anyone who dares to mow their own lawn or step into a Wal-Mart. And if Hollywood wanted shove anyone down men’s throat, why not Kate Winslet?
- Dances with Wolves. Great scenery, but at its core, just an early version of the current crop of anti-America movies produced by Hollywood. It’s basic paint by numbers good and evil crap with nice scenes of buffalo roaming and South Dakota.
- Dawn of the Dead. The original one, not the newer one directed by Zack Snyder. The orginal was just an annoying consumerism/capitalism parable.
- E.T. Gah. I remember seeing this at the old 24 Outdoor and as a kid, it made me weep a little. Now you couldn’t pay me to watch it.
- Blade Runner. Outstanding visuals, but so damn boring. Recently have viewed it a few times on the HD Net Movies and all I can say is that it shows how good Douglas Trumbull really was.

Someone should’ve told Oliver Stone that people may not like George W. Bush, but that doesn’t mean they would want to see a farcical movie about him before he’s out of office.
Just like the polls about the Presidential race are usually wrong, I don’t believe the polls that say Bush has a 30% approval rating or that Congress has a 9% approval rating.
Give people credit at least though, with all the anti-War movies that have bombed over the past 2 years, even a movie about Dubya bombed since there a still a large part of the movie-going public doesn’t like to be lectured to. Or see a President that has kept us safe for the past 7 years get blasted by a hack like Oliver Stone.

Holy crap! ANOTHER Bush=Hitler reference and it comes from Oliver Stone? You don’t freaking say…
“I tried to understand Nixon, I would try to understand Hitler, I would try to understand Oedipus. I’m not here to make judgments. Downfall is a great movie about Hitler - God, Bruno Ganz may have made Hitler better than he was, I’m sure he did, but you know what? It gave me a little insight into the banality of evil. Bush is the same thing.”
Years from now, people will look back at Oliver Stone and just laugh. I mean regardless of what you think about the Iraq War, if you’re for basic human rights, people on the left *should* have been behind it. We’re supposed to care about the genocide and torture happening in Darfur, but why are the people of Iraq simply sneered at or told to shut up and wait for our departure? Am I missing something here? 30 million people who were under the thumb of tyrannical dictator who tortured, maimed and killed men, women and children were set free from a man who was *also* harboring and financing terrorists. And for that? What does the thanks George W. Bush get? Being called Nazi, yet again, from some douchebag Hollywood hack who “pals” around with dictators and who has his head so far up Castro’s ass, he probably could see the cancer years before it came to light.
Castro will talk to you. He’s a real human being. I see George Bush as a synthetic person. As I once said, he’s an ex-alcoholic who believes in Jesus. What could be more dangerous!
Yeah, how dangerous. What foul piece of bowel excrement you are Stone.

Hope you had a spiffy suit there Richard.
You’d like to think his eulogies would be nothing but pompous riffs.
