When I asked co-workers what they believed a Barack Presidency would do for them, their first words were to give them back some money. Whether or not they wanted to take money from people who earned it elsewhere or through his mythical tax break for the 95% of America is beside the point. They “believed” Barack was going to do something for them.
If Conservatives/Republicans/Libertarians want to pushback against this party (thought I still laugh at Reason for supporting Obama) of anti-freedom and anti-America, they can hammer away at The One’s apparently waffling on his promises.
If you work with doe-eyed Obama supporters who think they’re going to helped by him, just engage them.
“You think you’re going to get a tax break? Well, you’re going to have to wait for the labor unions to get theirs. Then the teacher unions. Well, he has to expand the government job rolls too. And he’s got to pay back the entire Black caucus. And then there’s the massive spending bills he has plans for. Oh wait, he has to raise the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour and THEN…yeah, maybe you can get your little tax break or check you’re waiting for. But you may as well put that towards your energy bills since he’s going to refuse to drill offshore for oil, on our lands for natural gas and is shuttering nuclear and coal plants for the forseeable future. But hey, you were part of history with all that hope and change stuff. Good job!”
Short of some massive reversal of thinking on every voting American, the only way to stare this stuff down is to show people they’ve been misled and lied to.
