I’ll be the first to admit it, if a business is doing something bad, I’ll not visit them until further notice. Not the type to go for boycotts, but like many things, I hear a lot of people bashing the airlines. I realize some are truly bad, but overall I can’t help but think of a safer way to travel.
Could you imagine if 42,000 people a year died while flying? Nobody would get a plane. You can probably count on one hand the number of plane crashes per year in this country and I’d be willing to bet a majority of those are almost innocuous single engine prop planes crashing into some lake or farm-field with less than 10 people in the plane. Not to downplay any deaths, but I get a chuckle when people get all anxious when they talk about how “dangerous” getting a plane is. As if getting in your car is safer?
More importantly is that safety record the airliners have. People gripe these days, more and more, about their airline horror stories when traveling, but personally I’ve found one airline to be just fine when it comes to flying. But what do people want?

As I was strolling through Victoria Gardens on this fine Wednesday afternoon on vacation, I paused for a moment while admiring the vastness of this outdoor mall. It was 11:30 am and this place had LOTS of people in it. And no,no..they weren’t just window shopping…people were carrying bags around with items they have purchased! Even with California’s sales tax. Which made me ponder…if the news-deciders are correct, this shouldn’t be happening. We should all be curled up in the fetal position begging Charlie Rangel and Nancy Pelosi to bring about social progressive justice and the enslavement that usually follows command control economies, something they’re not even hiding these days.
For some progressives, the mall is inherently evil. They make zombie movies about it or they sneer at the consumerism of America. And even though they try, oh do they try, most people ignore them.
The same people who say they care about the plight of the poor, hate their usual destination which is Wal-Mart. The same people who care about the middle class don’t mind gas being over $4/gallon. The same people who are for “choice” don’t really want you to have any. Which gets me back to this recession talk. Is that all it is? Just…talk?
All things considered, it’s been refreshing not hearing any politics the past week, from either side. But moreso from the progressive regressive side. They don’t really care about anyone. They’d rather you have a label or number on your forehead, vote for them and give in to their controlling ways.
As for me, I’m taking my money and not participating in this so-called recession. I hope others are doing the same as well.

So you’re a 3 time NFL MVP. You’ve been embraced by the fans of the smallest market in football with one of the oldest teams in the NFL. You’ve been flirting with retirement since 2002. You’re making $12million a year playing football. You led your team back from a mediocre past couple of seasons and led them back to the NFC Championship. You were begged and pleaded with to come back one more year by not only the fans, but by team management. You then retired and cried in front of the whole world. But now, since your ego has gotten even bigger and you realize you still want to play, you want your team, the only one who wanted you by the way back in 1992 after you flopped out drunk in Atlanta, to release you. Oh and you apparently think you’re a throwback to Curly Lambeau…you’re the quarterback *and* GM now since the team didn’t take your trade advice or your coaching recommendations.
Sorry chuckles, doesn’t work that way. Don’t expect a lot of us to cheer for you now. I know, that sounds harsh, but you’ve been playing a lot of us for too long now and it’s at an end. We now know the Packers wanted you to come back in March, but two days later, you went ahead with your retirement. I’m not fooled by Greta and Packers fans aren’t as gullible as you think.
If Brett Favre assumes that the Packers should give in to his every whim, then there’s no need to have a coach and GM. Just let the players run the team. I’m sure that’ll work.

How appropriate the first post of this new blog is on July 4th. Independence Day and 232 years from the birth of American liberty.
I could go on about how much I care about this country and I would not wish to live anywhere else, but these days, people seem to be more worried about transforming this country into a mess that will be totally unrecognizable in the coming decades. Read the rest of this entry »
